Walking!

This video was taken about a month ago when Gareth was thinking about walking.


About 4 days ago Gareth decided to officially walk. YAY! I haven't gotten video of him doing his real walk so this will have to do. We are all excited. It took him almost 16 months to learn. I had decided to not worry about his delay in walking unless he made it to 18 months with no walking. So now I don't have to worry.

Random Updates

We've been kinda shy about the blog lately. Mostly because we're lazy. Also because life has been pretty hectic lately. We said goodbye to Flagstaff last week. We're going to miss a couple things about the place, but mostly we're excited to begin a new life somewhere else (which still remains a mystery!) One thing we miss a lot is storytime at the library. Ruth has spent the past two years really getting to know the librarians. Every time we walked into the library all the librarians would happily greet Ruth. They were even on their toes enough to have a new and different bookmark ready for her to take home every week. Ms. Karen was Ruth's favorite. She is the best story-teller ever. Here is a picture of Ruth, Ms. Karen and Ms. Karen's granddaughter...



Ruth was talking today about how she misses her friends. Daniel was (and is..she's excited to write him a letter) her best bud. They loved to eat pizza together and run around being crazies together.


A couple days after we arrived in Alpine Ruth woke up with a very high fever of 104.6. We were able to keep it down aroudn 102 with ibuprofin but when she still had the fever on the third day we took her to see a doctor. Bronchitus again. The inhaler helped her cough instantly but the medicine didn't help the fever go away until the fifth day. She spent all those days sleeping on the couch. Poor thing.


On May 2nd, we (Jonesy and I) celebrated our 5-year anniversary! Yay us! After surviving the past five years we feel that we can do anything.
We celebrated by leaving the children with Grandma and going to see a movie (Ironman--awesome flick...highly recommended!) eating dinner at a hawiian grill and going to an improv comedy show at a club called Comedy Sportz. Here we are in love and waiting for the show to start...

After the laughs we headed to Village Inn (the place we had our first date) for some pie. This is Jonesy being annoyed by the table FULL of highschool children who were thinking they were all that and a bag of fritos because they were out past 10pm without their mommies to take care of them...


After the pie we took an amazing trip to Wal-mart to buy diapers for our baby boy. All around it was a lovely anniversary. We look forward to another five years (mostly because we have promised ourselves a cruise for our tenth anniversary)

Oh on a side note, I was very sad to not get a picture of the wonderful surprise we found floating in the toilet today if only Jonesy didn't have to pee so badly I could have run and got my camera....apparently Gareth had snuck in there to find a place to hide his bottle and keep it cold.

BAM--April

Well you might have noticed (or not) that we didn't post for the Book A Month Challenge in March. That is mostly because we were busy and because only Jonesy read the book (I am a slacker--and not that interested in sushi) But just so you know, The Zen of Fish is very highly recommended by Jonesy. He's just been too busy to write about it. So read it

This month, the opposite happened. I read the book we chose and Jonesy didn't. I think it's mostly because he has no interest in beauty. The theme for April was 'beauty' so we chose to read Memoirs of a Geisha. We thought this would be appropriate for the theme because Geisha are all about beauty. An important thing I learned from the book is that being a Geisha is not only about physical beauty. In fact, that has little to do with the beauty of a Geisha. The clothes they wear, the dances they do, the music they play and the conversations they have are more the type of beauty that defines them. Being a Geisha is an artform.

Anyway, the book is a story about a young girl who is sold to become a Geisha. She goes through many trials, both physically and emotionally. The author did an amazing job of telling the story. It flowed perfectly. I really enjoyed reading about another culture and getting a glimpse into a lifestyle that I had preconceived notions about that were completely wrong. If you've seen the movie you might think that you don't need to read the book. I rented the movie after I read the book and was sorely disappointed. The plot is all wrong, the characters are not the same; it's like a whole other story (a crappy one). So read the book, please! This book is highly recommended!

Homework...Or Not

So I'm supposed to be doing schoolwork right now. But the pages are taking so long to load! I could have been done an hour ago, but I'm not. This is a screen shot from my Film class. It's a very fun class. I get to watch movies (fun) and write about them (not-so-fun). And that's all I have to say about that. So....seen any good movies lately? Please recommend some in the comments section!
