On July 1st, we decided to go on daycation. After our early morning fun at the balloon festival in Provo, we all loaded up and drove up to Logan to visit our old hangouts and end the day watching the firework show from our old apartment complex.
Our first stop was Sherwood Hills. The Haunted Forest was here. For a more complete story of how we met, click
here. We shot some good video and took some fun pictures. It sure is beautiful up there.

| This bridge is pretty much all that is left of the Haunted Forest. |

| Hiking around, trying to find a trail. |
| Look at these cutie pies! |
| Ronan was sick of posing. |
| Love these boys! |
| Ronan loves to run off on his own. |
| An attempt at a family picture. |
| This picture is fun. It shows how awesomely beautiful it is up there. It also shows how tired Gareth got from hiking around. |
After Sherwood Hills, we went to our favorite place for lunch: The Bluebird.
After The Bluebird, we went over to Willow Park Zoo where we met an old friend and her children. Willow Park Zoo is a little zoo that is free. Mostly all they have are birds and ducks, but they have other things too.
| Sleepy Bobcat |
| The Best Animals ever. |
| There were LOTS of turtles. |
| And a Bald Eagle |
After the zoo, we went to Charlies (the BEST ice cream place EVER). We drove up the canyon a ways (hoping the kids would fall asleep....but they didn't) and then went to First Dam to feed the ducks.
After our duck-feeding fest, we went and picked up dinner from our favorite pizza place in Logan (Firehouse Pizza) and took it to the park behind Jonesy's old apartment (where he lived when we first met). We ate and played there for a few hours.
Then, it was time to go claim our spot at Aggie Village to watch the Fireworks. We sat right outside the building that we used to live in and had a perfect view! Aggie Village is just up the hill from the Stadium (which is where they lit the fireworks from). I think when we lived there and were able to watch the fireworks from so close, it ruined any other fireworks show for us. Fireworks are only cool if you are right under them.
When they first started, Ronan kept saying "What happened?" Then I saw a red and green one and I said "Christmas fireworks!" and Ronan said "Ho, ho, ho!" After that, he kept calling them "Kissmas, ho, ho, ho." It was cute.

| Waiting for it to get dark enough. |
| We blew bubbles while we waited. Ronan is pretty good at it! |
After the fireworks ended (at 10:30pm), it was time to head home. It took us until 11 to get on the road. We didn't get home until after 1am. Ronan didn't fall asleep until about 12:15am. It's the latest he's ever stayed up. Towards the end there he was getting pretty loopy. Then he kept asking for "home" and "bed".
We're glad we took the trip up there. I think we'll start making it a tradition to go up for the fireworks whenever we're close enough to drive there. Next time we'll probably only make it a half-day trip.
